PD Pasar Jaya: No Sabotage in Pasar Senen Fire Incident

Massive fire gutted Pasar Senen this early morning, Friday (4/25). To put out the blaze, 46 fire trucks were sent to the scene. Those fire trucks were not from Central Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department only, but also from West and East Jakarta fire and disaster handling sub-departments.

There is no sabotage in this incident. This is a pure disaster

PD Pasar Jaya ensures that the incident is pure disaster and no sabotage. The statement is conveyed because previously the burned part of the market, Pasar Senen Blok III Major Markets Unit (UPB), had been planned to be rejuvenated.

“There is no sabotage in this incident. This is a pure disaster,” stated Head of PD Pasar Jaya Public Relations Division, Agus Lamun, in Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta, Friday (4/25).

For information, the amount of existing traders in Pasar Senen Blok III UPB is 2,596 people. As for the rejuvenation plan, PD Pasar Jaya will hold socialization first.

“We don’t know yet where the traders would be relocated. We’ll do socialization first,” he told.

Pasar Senen was built in 1974. According to Lamun, the traders’ kiosks utilization rights have expired since 2004. That is the reason why PD Pasar Jaya is going to rejuvenate the market.
